Since Betfair disallowed all bets placed on a tennis match between Davidenko and Vassallo Arguello multiple tennis players have admited that they have been offer money to throw matches and provide information on player injuries.

The latest is the Thailand Open winner Dmitry Tursunov who told a russian newspaper that he was offered bribes multiple times to lose matches.

"I was approached in Madrid in the middle of the season last year and at some other tournament."

Last week Novak Djokovic, the world No3, claims he was offered £110,000 to lose in the first round of a tournament in St Petersburg last year. He refused the offer and did not even attend the tournament. Two Belgian tennis players also claim they had been approached to take bribes to lose matches, including at Wimbledon.

Gilles Elseneer said he refused an offer of $140,000 to lose a first-round match at Wimbledon in 2005.

"I would get ($70,635) before the match and ($70,635) after, I thought at first it was a joke because it involved an awful lot of money."
