This bet365 review is built from the Gambling Commission's public records and the bet365 app listing on the UK App Store. The Commission register shows Hillside (UK Sports) ENC, account 55148, holding remote licence 055148-R-331498-002. It covers general betting on real and virtual events and pool betting, all active since 17 October 2019. The register gives a head office in Malta.
The register entry for this account lists betting activities only. The App Store listing also describes slots, live casino, table games and poker inside the same app; this review covers the sports betting side. The app's seller on the UK App Store is Hillside Technology Limited, a different company name from the licensee, and the listing does not explain the relationship between the two.
The Commission register does list a business with a near-identical name. Hillside (Technology) Limited, account 38721, holds a remote gambling software licence, 038721-R-319104-009, active since 25 September 2014, with a head office on Media Way in Stoke-on-Trent and bet365 among its trading names. Companies House records it as company 08273456, incorporated in October 2012, registered at Bet365 House on Media Way, with data processing and hosting as its business. No regulatory action is recorded against it. The register writes the name with brackets and the App Store without, so this review does not treat the two as proven to be the same company: the betting licence itself sits with Hillside (UK Sports) ENC.
bet365 grew out of a family chain of betting shops in Stoke-on-Trent. As CNBC reported in 2018, Denise Coates worked in her father's shops as a schoolgirl, took over the small chain after training as an accountant, and persuaded the family to borrow £15 million against the shops to build an online business, which started in a temporary building in the car park of one of the shops.
Companies House records bet365 Group Limited as incorporated on 26 June 2001, with its registered office at Bet365 House in Stoke-on-Trent. The original chain of shops was sold in 2005, according to the same CNBC report, as the company put its full weight behind bet365.com. Its British betting licence today sits with a different company, Hillside (UK Sports) ENC, as set out above.
According to the listing, customers can bet live and pre-match on football, horse racing, boxing, darts, basketball, golf and tennis, among other sports. It describes Bet Builder+, which combines markets from selected events into one bet pre-match and in-play, and "thousands of In-Play markets" across American football, soccer and basketball.
For following events, the listing names Live Streaming, Match Live for in-play events and stats, Bet Track for live bets on iPhone widgets, a Live Golf Tracker for PGA TOUR and DP World Tour events, and league stats pages. It also describes a My Teams page for football fixtures and a personalised menu that shows the sports a customer bets on.
These are the publisher's descriptions. Which events are streamed, and which markets are open in-play, varies by fixture and is visible only in the app.
bet365's website could not be opened from our connection, so this section rests on a screenshot of its help-centre page on withdrawal methods (help.bet365.com), taken on 3 November 2026 with United Kingdom and GBP selected. The table lists debit card (Mastercard, Maestro and Visa Debit), bank transfer, Apple Pay, PayPal, Trustly, Paysafecard, Pay by Bank and Revolut Pay.
bet365 gives a processing time of 1–4 hours for each of these, except Apple Pay, which it lists as instant. These are bet365's own figures, not times measured here, and the table does not say how long the money then takes to reach your account.
The minimum withdrawal is £5 for every method except PayPal, where it is £10. Maximums run from £2,000 for Paysafecard to £100,000 for bank transfer and Trustly. The table does not mention fees, so none are stated here.
The App Store listing says bet365 offers "Time-Outs, Deposit Limits, Reality Checks, and Self-Exclusion" and points UK customers to GambleAware and the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. A deposit limit caps how much can be paid in over a set period, a reality check is a reminder of time spent, and self-exclusion closes access for a chosen period. The listing does not say how quickly a limit takes effect, so check that in the account before relying on it.
The listing also says a customer must be 18 or over to hold a bet365 account and that availability may differ by location. Account access uses an existing bet365 account or a new sign-up in the app, with Face ID on supported devices.
On 4 April 2024 the Commission recorded a settlement with Hillside (UK Sports) ENC. It had opened a section 116 review after a compliance assessment in March 2022. The review found failings in the licensee's processes for preventing money laundering and for protecting people from being harmed or exploited by gambling.
The Commission found breaches of paragraph 2 of licence condition 12.1.1 on preventing money laundering and terrorist financing, between May 2021 and July 2022. It also found breaches of paragraphs 1b and 1c of social responsibility code provision 3.4.1 on customer interaction, between October 2021 and September 2022. Taking the licensee's remedial action into account, the licensee agreed to pay £239,085 in lieu of a financial penalty. The licence remains active on the register.
Beyond betting markets, the listing names free-to-play games, 6 Scores Challenge and Goals Giveaway, and Fantasy Sports tournaments with entry fees and prizes; prize amounts are not repeated here. It also calls bet365 the official global betting partner of the UEFA Champions League, which is the publisher's statement.
The privacy label, declared by Hillside Technology Limited, lists precise location, payment info, purchase history and contact details among the data that may be linked to your identity for app functionality.
